If nuclear negotiations fail, we have an alternative plan: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian

If nuclear negotiations fail, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says we have an alternative plan.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian Foreign Minister, who has traveled to Baghdad, said that if the nuclear negotiations fail, we are ready with an alternative plan.

The Iranian Foreign Minister did not provide any details about the possible plan, but stated that his country has taken constructive actions in the negotiations and is now ready to take steps towards concluding the negotiations while respecting the Islamic Republic’s red lines.

The talks to revive the JCPOA, which started in April 2021, have been suspended since the summer, and Western countries say that there is currently no prospect of resuming or achieving success.

The goal of the JCPOA talks was to increase supervision over Iran’s nuclear program and reimpose limitations on it in exchange for the lifting of US sanctions.

Iran says it has not left the negotiating table, but the United States has declared that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not showing any practical steps indicating an interest in reviving the JCPOA.
