Instead of increasing taxes, Zidabadi believes that the government should lift sanctions.
In response to the government spokesperson’s statements, Zidabadi argues that while taxation is a common approach for governments worldwide during economic prosperity, increasing taxes in a country with a 40% inflation rate and deep recession in many sectors, especially small businesses, would lead to bankruptcy and destruction, leaving many families in dire straits and fueling their anger and disobedience.
Rather than burdening the people with tax hikes, the government should focus on lifting sanctions and creating an environment for domestic and foreign investment, while reforming the rent-seeking economic system. It should also cut off the budget allocated to unnecessary and intrusive entities that consume a significant portion of the country’s public budget under the guise of cultural and educational programs.
It is blatantly wrong and unjust to finance these idle, futile, unproductive, and even harassing entities from the pockets of the people. A simple survey would demonstrate that the majority of the people strongly disapprove of allocating public resources to these entities.
