The Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council have no right in the Arash gas field.
The Foreign Ministers of the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council emphasized in a joint statement the exclusive rights of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in the Al-Durra gas field, which Iran calls the Arash field, and declared that no third country has a share in the reserves of this field.
According to this statement issued on the evening of Monday, February 3, only Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are jointly and exclusively the owners of the reserves of this gas field.
This council had also issued a similar joint statement last December, which was met with Iran’s reaction.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Naser Kanaani, also said on Tuesday, February 4, in response to the joint statement of the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council that baseless claims will not create any rights.
The Islamic Republic states that the Arash gas field is located in the waters of Bushehr and the eastern coasts of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Evaluations indicate that this field has around 570 billion cubic meters of gas reserves and 310 million barrels of gas condensates, a type of ultra-light crude oil.
