A hacking group associated with Iran attacks water network equipment in the United States
Following the announcement of a hacking attack by a group associated with Iran on water network equipment in several states in the US, US cyber security authorities have issued a warning, calling for increased cyber protection in critical infrastructure companies in the country, including the electricity, gas, and water sectors.
Regarding this matter, Eric Goldstein, Assistant Executive Director for Cybersecurity at the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, told reporters on Tuesday, December 4th that the destructive cyber activities of this group continue, and companies should particularly focus on enhancing the protection of equipment passwords.
In recent days, US and Israeli officials have reported cyber attacks by a group called CyberAv3ngers on industrial water management equipment in several states, including Western Pennsylvania, as well as at least four other institutions in the US.
In an image apparently released by these hackers, a slogan against the state of Israel is seen with the message that all equipment made in Israel is a legitimate target for CyberAv3ngers.
