Iranian hackers launch cyber attacks targeting Middle Eastern experts
Microsoft recently announced that it has successfully identified a series of cyber attacks carried out by Iran under the name ‘Mint Sandstorm’, previously known as ‘PHOSPHORUS’. These attacks employ new tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and specifically target individuals in universities and research organizations.
The report states that government-affiliated hackers from Iran are targeting journalists, researchers, professors, and others who hold viewpoints on security and political matters that are of importance to the Iranian government.
