Iranian Representatives Left the 28th Cup Meeting

Iranian representatives left the 28th COP session.

Iranian representatives left the 28th COP session in protest against the presence of Israel.

The Iranian delegation left the session of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP 28, on Friday in protest against Israel’s presence.

It had been previously announced that Ebrahim Raisi would not participate in this session due to Israel’s presence, and Ali Akbar Mehrabian, the Minister of Energy, would take charge of the Iranian delegation.

However, on Friday, the second day of the conference, the Iranian Minister of Energy announced that assessments indicated that Israeli officials would not be present at the conference, and informed about the return of the Iranian delegation to Tehran.

He also described the presence of the President of Israel as politically irrelevant, biased, and contrary to the objectives and principles of this conference.
