ISIS attack in Syria results in the death of 53 people

The ISIS attack in Syria resulted in the death of 53 people.

According to Syrian media, 53 people were killed during an attack by ISIS near Homs.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has stated that based on evidence recorded by activists of the organization, 46 of the victims are non-combatant civilians.

The SANA news agency, affiliated with the Syrian government, also reported that in addition to these 46 individuals, seven soldiers of the Syrian army were killed, as stated by the head of the Palmyra Hospital.

SANA also quoted Dr. Waleed Odeh, a local hospital official, stating that many of the victims were killed as a result of gunshot wounds to the head.

ISIS has not yet claimed responsibility for this attack.

Both reports mention that this attack took place in the desert areas surrounding al-Sukhnah, near the city of Homs.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which is close to the opponents of Bashar al-Assad, has written that one of the Iranian military bases is located in this same region.
