Issuing a verdict against students continues

The issuance of verdicts against students continues.

Despite the announcement of a pardon for protesting students by the President of the Islamic Republic, heavy sentences are still being issued against students, including expulsion, suspension, and payment of damages to the university.

The National Student Union Council has mentioned Mohammad Darkesh, a sociology PhD student at the University of Tehran, as one of the students who has been sentenced to two semesters of academic suspension, with previous years counted, and a payment of five million tomans in damages to the university, based on the decision of the university’s disciplinary committee.

The National Student Union Council also reported that according to the university’s announcement, Mr. Darkesh’s case is supposed to be sent to the Ministry of Science for expulsion. This is happening despite the fact that this change in verdict has been made without holding another session to inform the student of the charges and allow for defense.
