Lawyer: They did not allow Mohammad Mehdi Karami to meet his family before execution

Mohammad Mehdi Karami’s lawyer tweeted that Mohammad Mehdi Karami’s father told him that the sentence was carried out this morning without allowing a final meeting with his family.

He wrote that on Wednesday, Mohammad Mehdi called from prison and said he had started a dry hunger strike in protest of not accepting you as my lawyer. It was supposed that if I succeeded in granting representation, I would request a retrial.

Mohammad Mehdi Karami’s parents had repeatedly released videos asking the authorities to cancel their son’s death sentence.

Mashallah Karami, his father, had said that he is a street vendor worker.

Mohammad Hosseini, another protester who was executed today, also did not see his parents.

Ali Sharifzadeh Ardakani, his lawyer, had previously reported severe torture in prison.

Mohammad Hosseini and Mohammad Mehdi Karami were arrested on charges of killing a Basij member during the 40th day ceremony of Hadis Najafi in Karaj and were executed today, the 7th of January.
