An explosion of a gas pipeline in Mashhad caused the destruction of several shops, according to the Mashhad Fire Department.

The cause of the explosion was declared to be the collision of a mechanical digger with the gas pipeline during excavation work.

Majid Farhadi, the CEO of the Mashhad Fire Department, stated that there was a severe gas leak which resulted in the explosion, causing the destruction of four shop buildings and the shattering of windows in several commercial units around Tabarsi Square. It also caused damage to several cars and injuries to four individuals present at the scene.
