Microsoft's operation in Russia has begun to influence the US presidential election

Microsoft states that Russia’s operations to influence the US presidential election have begun.

Microsoft reports that the Russian online campaign to influence the US presidential election started 45 days ago, but its pace is slower compared to previous elections.

Researchers at the company stated in their report on Thursday, April 29, that Russian-linked accounts are promoting controversial topics such as Washington’s support for Ukraine in the conflict against Russia among American audiences.

The Russian Embassy in Washington declined to respond to Reuters’ questions on this matter, but the Kremlin said last month that it does not interfere in the US presidential election scheduled for November, while denying accusations of advertising to influence the election results in 2016 and 2020.

Microsoft researchers added that although the advertising campaign by Russian-linked actors has not been as intense in previous elections, it may intensify in the coming months.
