The moderates will come to the field to change the situation.
Ali Motahari, the deputy speaker of the tenth parliament, spoke about the formation of a council of moderates. He said that if such a council is formed and they have the possibility to participate in elections, it will definitely be beneficial for the system. However, it is conditional on the presence of rational individuals among those who formulate and implement major policies, who can provide this opportunity for their activities. Currently, the current policymakers do not consider these issues.
Mr. Motahari talked about his predictions about the Guardian Council’s performance in the 2003 elections. It is too early to predict how the elections of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Assembly of Experts will be held in 2023, but it seems very unlikely that the authorities will change their method.
He further added that in future elections, it is highly likely that they will follow the same method as the 2019 parliamentary elections and the 2021 presidential elections. Therefore, there is currently no hope for changing the method and creating an opportunity for moderate individuals to enter the elections.
