Ministry of Economy Street Vendors are also Subject to Pay Taxes

Traders are also subject to paying taxes according to the Ministry of Economy.

Amir Siyah, the head of the National Business Improvement Center at the Ministry of Economy, says that traders are also subject to paying taxes.

In a conversation with the Iran Labour News Agency, he said, ‘Traders are also subject to taxes, and why shouldn’t a trader pay taxes? Every individual with income above a certain threshold must pay taxes.’

He further stated that traders must also verify their identity and have a card reader device so that we can track their income levels. If they exceed the legal threshold, they must pay taxes accordingly.

He added that individuals are exempt from paying taxes up to a certain income threshold according to the law, so traders with lower incomes should not worry about tax payments.

According to the budget bill for the next year (1403), a ceiling of 1,122 trillion Tomans for taxable incomes has been predicted.

In recent years, the Iranian government has focused on increasing tax revenues significantly due to budget deficits and a decrease in foreign revenues mainly because of sanctions.
