Misuse of nursing students by healthcare centers
Some final year nursing students criticized what they call the cheap labor exploitation
They say that some clinics have advertised to recruit nursing students and require them to work from 1 PM to 8 PM, but they only pay ten thousand Tomans for each hard-working hour. According to these nurses, the tasks assigned to final year nursing students in hospitals and clinics are the same as those of a graduate nurse. In fact, the student does the work of a full-time nurse but receives only ten thousand Tomans per hour. These students add that in reality, we don’t even receive two million Tomans for working eight hours a day for twenty days, while we have the same efficiency as a nurse with a full salary. Isn’t this exploitation? These nurses say that the issue of student work in clinics is different from mandatory internships during their studies. Student work is full-time nursing work without any benefits. Why do healthcare centers exploit the financial needs of nursing students?
