The claim made by media outlets, citing The New York Times, that Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed message transfer is inaccurate

Mohammad Javad Zarif denies the accuracy of the message transfer discussion reported by the media from The New York Times.

Mohammad Javad Zarif, the former Iranian Foreign Minister, denies the report from The New York Times that he was the intermediary for message transfer between Tehran and Washington.

Mr. Zarif stated in an interview with the news website Entekhab that neither the claim made by The New York Times about him is true, nor is the discussion about message transfer that some media outlets mistakenly attributed to The New York Times.

The New York Times wrote in a report about the tensions between Iran and the United States following the killing of three American soldiers that three years after sidelining Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Iranian government consults with him regularly.

The New York Times also claimed, quoting a political analyst, that they contacted Zarif because he can analyze the situation better for them, and in this sensitive time, they need prominent foreign policy experts.

Entekhab website also quoted Mr. Zarif as saying that there is no internal consultation with me.
