Mohammad Mohajeri: Let’s Align Our Economy with China and Russia
Mohammad Mohajeri, a principled political activist, wrote in a note in Shargh today: Let’s assume there is no such thing as the JCPOA and that sanctions are here to stay and won’t be lifted. In such a situation, there is no choice but to find local and non-global solutions. At the very least, we should align our economy with Eastern countries like China and Russia and our neighbors, and for now, avoid dealing with the World Bank system. We should advance our economy through a barter system, limit our oil buyers to China and a couple of other countries, and write a development plan that relies more on internal resources. If we’re not going to return to the JCPOA, it’s better to distance ourselves from it, not waste our time, and resolve the issue once and for all. This could be a new manifesto for our economy, politics, and perhaps our culture.
