Mojgan Kavoosi Acquitted of Corruption Charges

Mojgan Kavoosi has been acquitted of the charge of spreading corruption on earth

Maziar Tataei, an attorney, has announced the acquittal of Mojgan Kavoosi, a Kurdish writer and researcher, and political prisoner, from the charge of spreading corruption on earth.

Ms. Kavoosi, who follows the Yarsan faith and resides in Kalardasht, was arrested on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

According to the Hrana news agency, she was tried in the Sari Revolutionary Court, and among other charges, she was accused of inciting people to conflict and spreading immorality through posting content on her personal page.

Mr. Tataei tweeted that according to the verdict issued by the first branch of the Sari Revolutionary Court, Mojgan Kavoosi has been acquitted of the charge of spreading corruption on earth.

Following widespread protests in Iran, the government has severely suppressed protesters and arrested many, issuing serious charges such as spreading corruption on earth, waging war against God, and rebellion, which could lead to death sentences.
