The European Union has seen a sharp increase in asylum seekers.
New statistics from the European Union show a significant increase in asylum seekers in the Union.
The European Union’s Asylum Agency has announced that in 2023, the number of these individuals increased by 18% compared to the previous year, with 1.1 million people seeking support services.
Two non-EU countries, Norway and Switzerland, also experienced a similar increase during this period.
The rise in the number of asylum applications for support services is comparable to the peak of the migration crisis in 2015.
Germany still has the highest number of applicants for these supports, with over 330,000 requests.
Afghan and Syrian nationals had the highest number of requests in this regard.
