Olaf Kristersson of Sweden is sending assistance forces to Latvia.
Swedish Prime Minister Olaf Kristersson said on Friday that his country intends to deploy forces to Latvia within the framework of the NATO program to station forces in Baltic countries that share a land border with Russia and its ally Belarus.
During a press conference with his Latvian counterpart, Egils Levits, he said that this morning the government made an official decision to issue orders of readiness for the armed forces to be deployed. The aim is for these forces to become operational from the beginning of next year.
He added that this assistance will include armored vehicles and Leopard tanks.
