Other chain stores will not provide free plastic bags.

The Iranian Environmental Organization has stated that other chain stores should not distribute free plastic bags. Mehdi Khadem Sameni, the head of the Waste Management Office of the Environmental Protection Organization, said that in honor of Clean Earth Week and in about a week, stores will not offer free plastic bags to customers. According to him, 21 tons of plastic bags are used annually only in the fruit and vegetable markets of Tehran, which is a very high figure.
