Pope Francis: I have no intention of retiring

Pope Francis, the leader of Catholics worldwide, has stated that he has no desire to retire and believes that the papal office should be preserved ideally until death. In my opinion, the papal office is a lifelong commitment, and I see no reason for it to be otherwise.

It is true that I wrote my resignation letter two months after being elected as the leader of Catholics worldwide and handed it to Cardinal Bertone.

I do not know where this letter is now. I wrote it in case my health issues prevent me from fulfilling the duties of the papacy properly. I do not want to be in a state of complete unawareness or unable to resign if necessary.

However, my actions do not mean that the resignation of a pope should become a trend or a normal occurrence.
