Outbreak of Marburg virus in Africa

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for an emergency meeting, confirming the outbreak of Marburg virus in Equatorial Guinea. So far, 9 people have died from the infection, and 16 other suspected cases with symptoms such as high fever, extreme fatigue, diarrhea, and vomiting have been reported. WHO has convened a meeting to discuss the new highly infectious outbreak of this virus in Central Africa. Marburg virus, similar to Ebola virus, is transmitted through close contact with infected body fluids, contaminated surfaces, or materials such as bedding. If not addressed and treated, this virus is fatal in 88% of cases. Its symptoms include high fever and severe headache.
