The probability of a city-destroying asteroid hitting Earth has increased to 31 percent
After the release of additional information about asteroid YR42024, scientists have now published new details regarding the potential time and place of its impact with Earth. According to NASA, although the probability of this asteroid colliding with Earth is estimated to be more than three percent, this level of likelihood is considered a real and serious warning in asteroid sciences.
Shortly after the discovery of this asteroid, which was found in December last year with the help of advanced telescopes in Rio Hurtado, Chile, scientists placed it at the top of the list of dangerous asteroids and activated warning systems in this regard.
Although scientists say there is still no cause for concern, the fact that the probability of this asteroid hitting Earth has increased from 12 in January to about three percent now is not good news for Earth’s inhabitants.
Based on scientists’ estimates and calculations, the potential impact of this asteroid is expected to occur on Wednesday, December 22, 2032, which corresponds to the 2nd of Dey, 1411 in the Iranian calendar. However, it is still not possible to comment on its location.
