Protest against the suspension of members of the National Library of Iran due to improper hijab
The National Library has recently suspended the membership of several women for violating the mandatory hijab
It has been said that the National Library and Archives Organization of Iran has notified them of the suspension of their membership via text message
In a statement released today, it is stated that the National Library organization, which logically should be a cultural institution, has been subjected to the oppression and suppression of the Sepah (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), and has taken away the flag of researchers and students from the public sphere of the country
It has been said that in the text messages, security officials have refrained from using the word ‘suspension’ due to hijab in order to prevent possible reactions, and have simply referred the user to section 7 of article 10 of the membership regulations
This section of the regulations obliges members to fully observe Islamic dress code and preserve religious, cultural, and social norms within the organization’s environment
