Providing People with Access to Free Internet

Providing public access to free internet

The Prime Minister’s office has requested the Minister of Communications to investigate the need to restore the internet to normal conditions and provide public access to free internet through discussions in the Digital Economy Taskforce. This request seems to have been raised following the efforts of Mojtaba Tavangar, the head of the Digital Economy Committee in the parliament. However, the Minister of Communications had previously stated that restrictions on the internet have been implemented by relevant authorities and it is up to these authorities to address and resolve them. Despite this, the Prime Minister’s office has entrusted the examination of this matter to the Digital Economy Taskforce in the government, and it appears that this taskforce should make decisions and announce the outcome in this regard. It remains to be seen what will happen to the internet’s situation after this letter.
