Reaction to the confiscation of Sazandegi newspaper, recalling the harsh headlines of anti-government newspapers during Rouhani’s presidency

Homeland newspaper, with the headline ‘Era of Freedom Attack on the Government’, while recalling a handful of harsh and relentless headlines of anti-Rouhani newspapers, reacted to the confiscation of Sazandegi newspaper in Raisi’s government. The newspaper was accused of publishing several critical headlines, including dishonor with Burkina Faso and meat riot.

In this report, we will take a look at some of the criticisms, accusations, and insults that Kayhan and other newspapers aligned with this media outlet have made during the eight years of the eleventh and twelfth governments under President Hassan Rouhani. However, they were less likely to be confiscated or receive severe punishment.

Unfortunately, two short-term confiscations have taken place, and these actions have been accompanied by a strong reaction from these media outlets. For example, the confiscation of Kayhan newspaper for a few hours was met with a bold response, as they published the headline ‘Blind Revenge’ against Kayhan’s enlightenments. Vatan Emrooz also chose the headline ‘Purple Dagger’ in response to its own confiscation.
