Resignation of Iranian Coach Following Being Addressed as a Terrorist in Brazil

Resignation of Iranian coach following terrorist attack in Brazil

Kousha Delshad, an Iranian coach, resigned just one day after being appointed as the head coach of Atletico Camerchial football team in Brazil, due to being labeled as a terrorist and facing external threats from fans.

Atletico Camerchial is a regional team playing in the second division of the Piauí state league in Brazil, which consists of eight teams.

According to reports, Mr. Delshad has been active in local Brazilian teams since 2014.

The team led by Mr. Delshad had only earned three points in six weeks and suffered a 4-0 defeat against River team just one day after the appointment of this Iranian coach.

In response to the incident, Mr. Delshad said that a coach taking charge of a club in a relegation situation cannot perform miracles with just two days of training.

According to him, it is not acceptable to face biased and xenophobic insults such as the chants of ‘Hey, terrorist coach’ from the stands.
