Sanctions against Russia for the Olympics will not be lifted

The sanctions against Russia for the Olympics will not be lifted.

The International Olympic Committee has imposed unprecedented sanctions against Russia and Belarus.

They cannot participate in any international sporting event without their national flag, anthem, or other national symbols, and without the acceptance of government or administrative officials at any international sporting event.

The sanctions became effective in February 2022 and were further strengthened and confirmed at the Olympic Summit in December of the same year. These sanctions remain in effect.
