Keijan Maqsoudi shines in the Asian Women’s Weightlifting Championships

Keijan Maqsoudi won all three bronze medals in the 87kg weight category at the Asian Women’s Weightlifting Championships hosted by Tashkent.

The phenomenon from Sanandaj, Iran’s national team, managed to lift 96kg in one attempt and 117kg in two attempts, with a total of 213kg, securing third place.

The gold medal went to Yoon Ha-kyung from South Korea, while Nigora Sunova from Uzbekistan won the silver medal. Sri Lanka’s representative placed fourth after Ms. Maqsoudi.

Keijan says she always dreams of standing on the Olympic podium, which is a very big wish and requires a lot of effort, but she sees it in herself to achieve this dream.

In the 2024 Asian Championships, in addition to Rostami’s runner-up finish and Maqsoudi’s bronze medal, Fatemeh Kashavarz and Reyhaneh Karimi improved all six youth and adult Iranian records. Rostami also improved three of his national records.
