The spokesperson of the presiding board of the parliament stated that it is time for Iraq to prove its brotherhood.
The spokesperson of the presiding board of the parliament, in response to recent negotiations between the Iraqi Foreign Minister and the US Secretary of State regarding the release of Iran’s blocked assets in that country, said that Iran has always supported Iraq in difficult times, so now it is time for them to also prove their brotherhood.
Alireza Salimi, referring to the equivalent of $6 billion of Iran’s blocked assets in Iraq and the necessity of their release, said that Iraqis know that it was Iran that helped them during tough times and challenges. Therefore, they should not interact with Americans in a way that harms our country.
A representative of the people of Tehran, Rey, Shemiranat, Islamshahr, and Pardis in the Islamic Consultative Assembly further stated that Iran has taken steps towards trade with Iraq with a developmental approach in the economic sector, especially in meeting Iraq’s needs for electricity and gas. Therefore, it is necessary for the Iraqi side to cooperate fully with Iran in releasing Iran’s assets.
A member of the Industries and Mines Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated at the end that we helped Iraq at their request during wartime, so Iraqis should not allow countries like the United States to interfere in Iraq’s bilateral relations with Iran and prevent Iran from receiving its assets.
