Ali Ramazani, the winner of the national student council olympiad, was sentenced to 43 months in prison

Ali Ramazani, the winner of the national student council competition, has been sentenced to 43 months in prison.

According to reports, Ali Ramazani, the winner of the eighteenth World Microelectronics Olympiad, has been sentenced to three years and seven months in prison by the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

According to the National Student Council, Mr. Ramazani, a student and researcher at Amirkabir University of Technology and a member of the Iranian Microelectronics Olympiad team, has been convicted of charges including conspiracy against domestic and foreign security and propaganda against the Islamic Republic system, based on a verdict issued on February 20 in Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

Ali Ramazani had previously achieved first place in the World Microelectronics Olympiad competition held in Armenia this fall.

Mr. Ramazani was arrested at his home on the evening of October 16.
