Billion-Euro Taxes and Fines for Apple and Google
The European Supreme Court has issued a ruling requiring the two American tech giants to pay billions of euros in overdue taxes and fines that they have so far avoided settling.
With this ruling, Europe emerged victorious in the multi-billion euro legal battle with the smartphone maker Apple and the giant company Google, which owns the largest internet search engine.
According to the Tuesday ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Google has been fined over 2 billion euros for violating anti-monopoly laws, and Apple is also required to pay 13 billion euros (143 billion dollars) in overdue taxes to the European Union.
