Taylor Swift breaks Elvis Presley’s record
American singer Taylor Swift has managed to break the long-standing record of Elvis Presley by having the most weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States.
According to the American magazine Billboard, which tracks the music market and publishes a weekly list of the most popular albums, Taylor’s 1989 album was able to claim the top spot on the weekly sales chart for another week. As a result, Taylor Swift surpassed Elvis Presley with a total of 68 weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
Although the 34-year-old Swift has set a new record as a solo artist, the first place record in this competition still belongs to The Beatles, whose albums spent 132 weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
Elvis Presley, also known as the King of Rock and Roll, held the second place position among individual artists and third place overall with a total of 67 weeks at number one on the Billboard chart from 1956 to 2002.
