Tehran officially accepts the Taliban’s ambassador

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has entrusted the Afghan embassy in Tehran to a Taliban diplomat, according to the spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They stated that the end of a diplomat’s mission and the appointment of another diplomat from the same embassy does not imply a change in its legal status.

Therefore, Tehran, along with other capital cities in the region, has officially accepted the appointed representative of the Taliban.

A source at the Afghan embassy in Tehran stated that on Sunday, 29th of Bahman, Rasoul Mosavi, the assistant to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, summoned Abdul Ghayoom Suleimani, the charge d’affaires of the previous Afghan government, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officially informed him that the Islamic Republic of Iran has accepted the appointed representative of the Taliban by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and you must hand over embassy affairs to Fazl Ahmad Haqqani based on the recommendation of the Taliban’s Foreign Minister.
