The airspace between Oman and Israel has been reopened for Israeli airlines.
Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, expressed his gratitude to Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said for opening the country’s airspace to all airlines, including Israeli airlines.
According to the Israeli Foreign Minister, the reopening of the Oman airspace allows Israeli airlines to offer shorter routes to Asia.
Mr. Cohen described this decision as a historic and important step for Israel’s economy and Israeli travelers, according to Reuters.
Oman’s non-military aviation authority announced today that the country’s airspace will be open for all aircraft that comply with its regulations.
Earlier, the CEO of El Al, Israel’s national airline, had stated that if Oman allows their planes to fly over its airspace, it would significantly improve the airline’s position for transporting passengers to Asia.
In early July, Saudi Arabia also announced the reopening of its airspace to all aircraft from around the world.
