The Danes Paved the Streets in the Grocer's Neighborhood of Copenhagen

Danish residents in the Madersfroshan neighborhood of Copenhagen paved the street with cobblestones.

Residents of the famous hippie neighborhood of Christiania in Copenhagen, which has been a haven for drug dealers for years, started paving the main street on Saturday, April 6, in the hope of freeing the area from criminal gangs.

In the 70s, hippies settled in this area, which was formerly a military barracks, and turned it into a place for illegal buying and selling of drugs, including marijuana and hashish. During these years, several deadly conflicts and shootings occurred between criminal groups and police officers in this neighborhood.

In August 2023, a 30-year-old man was killed and four others were injured in a shooting on a street in Christiania. This was the latest incident of several deadly shootings related to organized crime. In the past three years, numerous cases of shootings and knife attacks have been reported in this neighborhood.
