Khwarazmi bookstore has been sealed
The closure of the old Khwarazmi bookstore in Tehran and the unemployment of its employees has faced numerous criticisms with the intervention of the Islamic Advertising Organization.
Asadollah Amrayi, an Iranian translator, wrote in an Instagram post that the Khwarazmi bookstore located on Enghelab Street has been sealed with a judicial order.
Mr. Amrayi also stated today that a portion of Khwarazmi Publications’ shares belonged to the late Abdulrahim Jafari. After the acquisition of Amir Kabir Publications and its transfer to the Islamic Advertising Organization, Mr. Abdulrahim Jafari’s shares also became the property of the Islamic Advertising Organization since 2007. With the passing of the late Alireza Heydari, who was the CEO of Khwarazmi from its establishment, the Advertising Organization took control of Amir Kabir Publications and closed down most of its stores. If it has any remaining vitality, it is from the efforts of the late martyr. Now, the claimant of the bookstore says, according to Mr. Taleghani, it has no connection to any publications.
Majid Taleghani, the manager of Khwarazmi bookstore, also stated that the Islamic Advertising Organization has filed a complaint against him and they want to confiscate these publications.
