The spokesperson for the Headquarters for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice said the morality patrol should first target celebrities.
Hojatoleslam Seyed Ali Khanmohammadi, spokesperson for the Headquarters for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, responded to recent controversies regarding the setting of fines for improper hijab and said, ‘We fundamentally deny this issue. How can a plan that has not been approved be implemented?’
He added, ‘Khanmohammadi told Tasnim regarding some controversies about chastity and hijab that we have stated from the beginning that improper hijab is not a crime but a violation, and it should be dealt with accordingly.’
The spokesperson for the Headquarters for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice also mentioned that guidelines have been provided to government agencies in the field of promoting virtue, one of which is chastity and hijab. The duty of the headquarters is to communicate and supervise this plan because we have insisted from the beginning that the plan for chastity and hijab should start with government agencies. Our morality patrol should first target disruptive celebrities, those who are role models for the people.
