The tenth package of EU sanctions against Russia has been approved.
One day after the anniversary of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the European Union committed to increasing pressure on Moscow by approving the tenth package of sanctions against Russia until Ukraine is freed.
Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, said in a tweet, ‘We now have the most extensive sanctions that can destroy Russia’s war arsenal and severely impact its economy.’
The President of the European Commission also added that the Union would increase pressure on those who intend to circumvent European sanctions.
Josep Borrell, the head of EU foreign policy, also warned that the Union would continue to impose further sanctions against Moscow.
Mr. Borrell said, ‘We will continue these pressures as long as necessary and until Ukraine is liberated from Russia’s brutal invasion.’
He also added that these sanctions target the banking sector and Moscow’s access to technologies that can be used for both non-military and advanced military purposes.
