The top scorer of Germany's World Cup victory in 1990 passed away

The scorer of the winning goal for Germany in the 1990 World Cup passed away.

His former club Bayern Munich announced that Andreas Brehme, who scored the decisive penalty in the 85th minute leading West Germany to victory over Argentina in the 1990 World Cup final, passed away last night at the age of 63.

Bayern Munich, in a statement, expressed deep shock over the sudden death of Andreas Brehme.

Brehme, who was a versatile left-back, spent two seasons between 1988-1986 at Bayern Munich and won the Bundesliga title with the team in 1987.

He started his football career in working-class neighborhoods in Hamburg but then played for clubs such as Kaiserslautern, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Zaragoza, and Real Saragossa.
