The United Nations Calls for the Release of Niloufar Bayani

The United Nations has called for the release of Niloufar Bayani.

The United Nations Environment Programme has called for the release of Niloufar Bayani, an environmental activist, as well as all environmental activists and experts imprisoned in Iran.

In its statement, the organization reminded that Ms. Bayani worked as a consultant in its office in Geneva between 2012 and 2017.

The statement states that Ms. Bayani, who was a dedicated and hardworking colleague, focused on promoting community resilience against disasters and climate change.

The mission statement of Ms. Bayani has been endorsed in countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Ivory Coast, and Sri Lanka.

The statement also adds that Ms. Bayani was the primary author of several publications of the organization, which examined the extent to which ecosystem regulators can withstand disasters.
