Tracking Iranian Cyber Intrusion in the US Elections

Microsoft, which had previously successfully dealt with many dimensions of cyber activities of hackers affiliated with the Iranian regime, has been one of the few forces working alongside American security organizations to combat Iranian hackers and cyber attackers.

A significant part of the achievements of this company and the counterattacks of American security organizations against various structures in Iran are gradually becoming public over time. On Friday, Microsoft released a special report on the complete tracking of a group of cyber activists affiliated with the Iranian regime, whose activities aimed to disrupt the US elections.

This infiltration operation in the elections is based on a report that has delved into the programs of several countries to influence the American elections. It involves the widespread use of artificial intelligence to create various websites and accounts to amplify the political divide between the two existing poles in America and radicalize its political space. A specific network of various websites named Storm2035 has been identified, which became active in October 2023. Some of the activities are aligned with the opponents of Trump and the Democrats, reflecting their beliefs and approaches. Other activities support extremist and conservative views, particularly endorsing anti-LGBT movements and social tolerance and acceptance. American security agencies and technology companies have gained special power and expanded their operations in tracking various activities of hostile countries in the US. The structures established by Joe Biden at the beginning of his presidency are demonstrating their capability and effectiveness in combating foreign infiltration.
