The trial of the former US president has been delayed.
The Supreme Court of the United States announced on Thursday that it will decide on the legal immunity of Donald Trump in the case of attempting to change the outcome of the 2020 election.
This decision by the US Supreme Court actually accepts Donald Trump’s request to review the matter, causing a delay in one of the most important criminal cases related to the former president. The case is being pursued by Special Counsel Jack Smith of the US Department of Justice, and Trump is accused of involvement in the January 6, 2021 riots and the attack by a group of his supporters on the US Capitol building.
Mr. Smith, in this case scheduled for trial on March 4, accuses Trump of encouraging and inciting his supporters to engage in insurrection and change the election results through his actions.
However, Trump had previously requested legal immunity, arguing that he was the US president at the time and his activities were within the scope of carrying out his legal duties.
