Ukrainian children as war spoils for Russia

Ukrainian children are war spoils for Russia

A recent shocking report reveals that Russia has created a widespread network of camps where thousands of Ukrainian children are being held. Most of these children have been transferred to Russia through deception or force, often without their relatives’ knowledge, from the occupied areas of Ukraine.

The forced transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia is considered a war crime and a crime against humanity, and a clear violation of international conventions regarding the rights of children and the treatment of non-combatants during times of war. Ukrainian authorities have been protesting against it since the early days of Russia’s extensive military invasion.

According to the data from the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office, approximately eight thousand Ukrainian children have been transferred to Russia during the days of war. Only 128 children have managed to return to their families.

A recent report, published under the supervision of Yale University, confirms the extensive scale of the forced transfer of Ukrainian children to camps in Russia and Crimea.
