Fire in Dubai leaves 16 dead

A fire in a residential complex in Dubai has reportedly left 16 dead and 9 injured, according to Indian media. At least four of the victims of this extensive fire were Indian immigrants in Dubai.

The fire occurred on Saturday, 26th of Farvardin, on the fourth floor of an apartment block in the Al Rass neighborhood in the old city.

Dubai’s Department of Unexpected Incidents stated in a statement that preliminary investigations indicate that this fire was caused by a failure to comply with safety and security requirements in the building.

The city has experienced major fires in the past, causing significant damage, but with few casualties.
