Hollywood Screenwriters’ Strike
According to a report by the Associated Press, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) announced on Twitter that they have prepared approximately 11,500 of their members for a widespread strike taking place in the major city of Los Angeles, against Hollywood studios.
This is the first widespread strike of Hollywood screenwriters in fifteen years, as negotiations between screenwriters and major Hollywood studios to find an alternative solution for the cancellation of contracts that ended in early May after a three-year period.
Hollywood entertainment writers are demanding higher wages and a larger share of profits, considering the significant growth of television networks. Screenwriters have so far received a fixed annual salary from online platforms, despite the global success and hundreds of millions of viewers of shows like Bridgerton and Stranger Things.
