Revealing a 70% Inflation Rate in Iran

Exposing a 70% inflation rate in Iran

While the Central Bank and the Statistical Center of Iran refrain from publishing their inflation statistics for the second consecutive month, an informed source at the Central Bank states that the increase in prices of goods and services in this year’s Farvardin (March-April) compared to the same month last year is close to 70%.

On Thursday, 27th of Ordibehesht, the website Eko Iran reported, quoting this Central Bank source, that the inflation rate for Farvardin is 687%, which is just one step away from reaching the 70% inflation rate and is the highest inflation rate in the past 30 years.

Official institutions of the Islamic Republic have been unwilling to publish official statistics in previous years in order to conceal Iran’s economic situation.
