Bus tickets for intercity routes increased by 29%

Intercity bus tickets have become 29% more expensive.

Ahmadreza Ameri, the CEO of the Union of Cooperative Travel Companies in Iran, stated today, on the 26th of Ordibehesht, that the price of intercity bus tickets has increased by 29% starting from today. He mentioned that the prices have changed in accordance with the request we had previously submitted to the Market Regulation Headquarters.

He attributed the ticket price hike to the increase in transportation companies’ costs and stated that we had requested a price change from the Road and Transportation Organization months ago.

Following the exorbitant increase in airplane ticket prices, intercity buses were considered a relatively affordable alternative for many segments of society in Iran, including university students and employees working on projects. According to Mr. Ameri, prices increased by 25% during the Nowruz holidays but returned to their previous state after the end of the holiday trips, and no company has had the right to change ticket prices until today.
