Formation of the Ministry of Commerce on the Parliament's Agenda

The formation of the Ministry of Commerce is on the agenda of the parliament.

The Islamic Consultative Assembly agreed to the government’s request to review the urgent bill for the formation of the Ministry of Commerce.

The government of Ebrahim Raisi approved the bill for the formation of the Ministry of Commerce and sent it to the parliament.

The purpose of establishing this ministry is to establish an independent structure for domestic trade and to regulate market and policy-making for market supervision and organization.

According to the text of the bill for the formation of the Ministry of Commerce, which has been published by Iranian media, some responsibilities and subsidiaries of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade will be transferred to the Ministry of Commerce, including the Consumer and Producer Protection Organization.

The Ministry of Commerce was merged with the Ministry of Industries and Mines in 2011 and became the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade.

The Iranian parliament agreed to revive the Ministry of Commerce in 2019.
