White House National Security Advisor Agrees to Prisoner Exchange with Tehran as per Prior Agreement

The White House National Security Advisor intends to proceed with the exchange of prisoners with Tehran, according to the agreement.

The White House National Security Advisor said on Tuesday, August 22nd, that the United States believes that the agreement with Iran regarding the release of five American citizens is still in place. However, he refrained from providing an exact timeline on the matter.

Jake Sullivan, speaking to reporters, assured that the process, as agreed upon by Washington and Tehran, is progressing.

The American official emphasized that he cannot provide an exact timeline because there are still some steps that need to be taken.

Earlier, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic also stated in similar remarks that, according to Tehran’s information, the implementation process of this agreement is going well.

The U.S. State Department confirmed on August 10th that Iran will receive six billion dollars of its blocked oil money from South Korean banks in exchange for the release of five American prisoners.
